Administrative history

The York Branch of the Association of University Teachers (AUT) was formed c.1965 as a local association of the national AUT. It was a trade union and professional association representing academic and academic related staff at the University of York on matters of pay, pensions and working conditions.

In 2004-2005 the governing body of the York Branch consisted of a Local Executive comprising a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Secretary, Health and Safety Representative and Equal Opportunities Officer.

In 2006 the national AUT, together with all its local branches, was merged into the University and College Union and ceased to function as an independent organisation.
