History

Frances Beaumont was born Frances Lowther, the daughter of Sir William Lowther of Swillington, Yorkshire. In 1676 she married Richard Beaumont of Whitley Hall and their only surviving son, also Richard, was born the following year.

The elder Richard died in 1691 and Frances in 1714. By her will, Frances left money to be invested in land and property for the benefit of clergy in Thorner and Pontefract and to provide a schoolmaster at Kirkheaton.
