The Manor of Sheriff Hutton was passed down the Meynell-Ingram line after the marriage of Hugo Meynell, Esquire, to the Hon. Elizabeth Ingram, the heiress of Sheriff Hutton, in 1782. In 1890, the Hon. Mrs Meynell-Ingram of Temple Newsam (daughter of Viscount Halifax, wife of Hugo Francis Meynell-Ingram, Esq., and grand-daughter of Hugo Meynell and Elizabeth Ingram) was lady of the manor.
