Although Naburn Hospital dealt with psychiatric patients, not mentally handicapped people, some papers relating to York City Council's duties re. mental deficiency under the 1913 Act have survived with Naburn archives. For mental handicap hospitals, see the archives of Whixley Hospital (of which York City Council was one of the managing bodies) and Claypenny Hospital (run by the North Riding County Council)
