Name of creator
The church of St Aidan was built in 1965 as a chapel of ease to Acomb parish, serving the new Chapelfields housing estate.
St Aidan and St Stephen's, Acomb later combined to become a two church parish.
Immediate source of acquisition or transfer
The archive was deposited at the Borthwick Institute in 1989 by the incumbent. Further additions were made to the archive in 1992, 1997 and 2013.

Includes baptism register, 1965-1997; service registers, 1965-1984, 1995-2006; electoral roll, 1982, with revisions to 1990; minutes books of the St Aidan's Committee, a sub committee of the joint St Stephen's and St Aidan's Parochial Church Council, 1979-1987; inventory, 1970.
Further accruals are expected.
