The Finance Committee generally met fortnightly (1846-1921) or monthly (1921-1948) to make recommendations to the Board of Directors concerning payments on the company's revenue, capital and construction accounts (including wages and bills), cheques to be signed, reimbursements for excessive water charges, interest rates on the company's mortgages, the distribution of profits, salaries, and sums to be allowed as bad debts (to Dec 1923 only; Minute Books 4-6 contain lists of debtors). The Finance Committee regularly audited the Manager's accounts and examined the Balance Sheets on a half-yearly basis. The minutes are signed until Aug 1942.

Finance, Collection, and Finance and Collection Committee minutes are included in Minute Book 1. The Collection Committee oversaw the collection of rates and arrears. The Finance Committee and Collection Committee were originally established as separate committees on 7 Sept 1846, but had merged by July 1851 as the Finance Committee.
